TEME HOUSE GAINS B ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE RATING

Teme House has been awarded a ‘B’ Energy Performance Certificate rating. From October 2008 all buildings being sold or let are required by law to have an Energy Performance Certificate, awarded by accredited energy assessors. The scale ranges from A to G with A being the most energy efficient.

The Energy Performance Certificate is part of a series of measures being introduced across Europe which will help cut buildings’ carbon emissions and tackle climate change. With nearly 50% of the UK’s carbon emissions currently being produced by buildings the new ratings are designed to promote an improvement in energy efficiency. The way a building is constructed, insulated, heated, ventilated and the type of fuel used, all contribute to its carbon emissions.
“The B rating for Teme House is extremely good and significantly above the UK average EPC rating of D.” said Charles Warrack of joint letting agents King Sturge.

The Energy Performance Certificate is valid for ten years on any rented property, at which time a new assessment will be required and further advice could be given as to how to enhance a building’s energy efficiency.

Maria Baldwin of L4 Limited, who carried out the EPC assessment commented,
"Teme House achieved a very good energy rating, in fact it is the best rating achieved on any of the buildings I have assessed to date. The building encompasses energy efficient heating, cooling, lighting and control systems, which are all well documented. It was a really enjoyable building to assess."
